On Saturday, we had some time to burn so we took a little field trip to the Lower Mississippi River Museum in Vicksburg. It starts with a movie about river management done by the Army Corps of Engineers and other organizations, and then has historical displays about various events along the river as well as a large timeline. There are also a number of things for kids - I was surprised at how interactive it is.
Sunny's favorite thing was touring the boat and going through the scavenger hunt on the tour cards. Posy liked "making" a flood and doing some crayon rubbings of various animals found in and along the river. Birdie and Magnolia got a big kick out of watching the fish in the aquarium. The scale model of the river has water a couple of inches deep in warmer weather - we'll have to go back and check that out another time. It was too cold to play in the water this weekend, and it was drained for the moment.
All in all, it was a good way to spend the morning.
