Camp Sew-A-Lot

Last week was our local school's spring break, so we invited a couple of friends over for a "sewing camp" for a few days. Sunny named it Camp Sew-A-Lot. The girls had a good time (and I took no pictures - sorry) learning to cut out fabric and "drive" the sewing machine. The other mom and I helped them make dresses and square-block quilts for their dolls. We had to be pretty hands-on because they were totally new to this, but it went fairly smoothly.

Notes for next time:
1. Everyone needs their own scissors.
2. Two tables - one for cutting and the other for the machines.
3. Multiple sewing machines, which is not a problem because somehow I have ended up with three. I just need to get them all out and set up.

We're doing some house rearranging because of my sister and parents coming to visit for the summer, so the "extra" bedroom which is currently the sewing room needs to become a bedroom. The sewing center will move downstairs into our storage room, just on the other side of the doorway from where our school table is already located. So it will be perfect for another sewing camp this summer! I promise, Grandma, that I will take pictures then.
