Since we live in a library and heavily use the public library ... I read too! It's not just the girls knocking out 2000 books a year. Not that I get to read nearly that much, but I did pretty well this year!

I read a lot of children's and youth fiction this year for 2 reasons - we listened to a number of classic fiction books on CD in the van while driving, so the girls can hear more books. I don't have time to read everything! I also taught a book group/literature class at our fall co-op for 9-12 year olds, and pre-read to choose the booklist. Here's the kid list:
Princess of the Silver Woods by Jessica Day George
Winnie the Pooh by AA Milne
Auggie and Me: Three Wonder Stories by RJ Palacio
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
Here Lies the Librarian by Richard Peck
The Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling
Project Mulberry by Linda Sue Park
Homeless Bird by Gloria Whelan
The Tail of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler
Child of Dandelions by Shenaaz Nanji
The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate
The Blossoming Universe of Violet Diamond by Brenda Woods
Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry
Space Case by Stuart Gibbs
Red Berries, White Clouds, Blue Sky by Sandra Dallas
The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Who was Seabiscuit? by James Buckley Jr
Winterfrost by Michelle Houts
The Green Bicycle by Haifaa al Mansour
AND 600 children's picture books for the 1000 Book Challenge with the three younger girls.
Since I started keeping track in 2002 of my reading, this is the most I've read in a calendar year by a long shot. I was helped by starting to use audio books for the first time - of the 37, eleven were audio books. We used CDs in the van, and I downloaded the Librivox app onto my phone and listened to books while working on sewing projects. I see a lot more classic literature in our future with the audio resources!
