(week 4: June 6-10, 2011)
Scripture of the Week: Doctrine and Covenants 88:118 again.
Handwriting: More straight line letters - I, K, L, M, N.
Math: telling time and learning the clock
M - we read a Disney Princess book that has a clock on it about telling time.
T - AC reviewed the hour and minute hands, and got our regular analog clock off the wall to look at the little tick marks for each minute. 60 minutes to an hour.
W - We reviewed from Monday and Tuesday again and in the Disney book, Sunny put the clock at the correct times to go with the story.
Th - I got the clock off the wall again, and we talked about the second hand, the hour/minute hands, and we watched them tick their way around the face for a few minutes.
F - no clock today. I was working on a sewing/crafting project with a friend in the afternoon, and the girls counted and sorted buttons. Sunny counted up to 100 - one of her benchmark items to check off.
Five in a Row: The book for this week was Lentil by Robert McCloskey.
Literature: We read more Greek myths, but not in a collection book. We read about Pegasus, King Midas, and Hercules. On Tuesday, we went to the library for about an hour and a half and had free reading. We're getting into a pattern of going to the library one day a week for free reading, and doing "formal" literature reading the other 4 days.
Not really any science or PE this week - just more watching the garden. I got some easy-level books about plants from the library to go through next week, and Sunny has already been looking through them. Swimming was only once - we had thunder and lightning 2 evenings (and lost power for 4 hours one evening, but no rain at all. Weird.) and AC and I were busy with various things the rest of the week.
