Sunny started piano lessons in February, so I was a little surprised that she was invited to perform in her teacher's recital in May. But she did! She played Eensie Weensie Spider in a duet with her teacher. It was a fairly short recital, but a good start for Sunny.
Sunny and Posy have been taking ballet and tap since last August, and it was recital time for that as well. This wasn't just a string of random dances one after another. The dance studio basically put on a very abbreviated play of Mary Poppins. Sunny's class danced in "I love to laugh" for ballet and part of the "Step in Time" sequence with the chimney sweeps for tap. The final production number for "Let's go fly a kite" had everyone on stage.
Posy was supposed to dance in "Spoonful of Sugar" (ballet) and part of the "Jolly Holiday" sequence (tap) ... but she did not dance at all because she got sick the day of the dress rehearsal. She was still down the day of the performances. SAD! I was so bummed that she didn't get to perform after all that work and she always looked so cute at home when she would practice her dances.
Yes, I have video of all the performances. If I know you in real life and you want to see the video, drop me a note and I'll put you on the email list for whenever I get around to putting the clips on Dropbox. Which is not yet ... I still have every intention of getting Posy dressed up in her costume (since I paid a truckload of money for the stupid thing that's still in the plastic) and having her do a private performance at home for the camcorder so Grandma and Grandpa can see it.
