We have this thing for dinosaurs going on around here. I think it started with an obsession with the PBS show, Dinosaur Train. So we took a field trip with Grandma and Grandpa down to New Haven and visited the Peabody Natural History Museum at Yale. There was a cool exhibit about dinosaur eggs - apparently, finding eggs and babies has been part of a number of digs. There were sand boxes (that rubbery stuff that looks like eraser residue) where the kids could brush the stuff off and examine the different shapes and textures. The big hit of the main dinosaur hall was the pteranodon skeleton, "Just like Tiny, Shiny and Don on Dinosaur Train!!!!!!!" We moved fairly quickly through the rest of the museum because suddenly everyone decided they were hungry. We did enjoy the Discovery Room, where they have some small animals. We watched the bearded dragons get fed live crickets - lots of squealing and laughing about that. The lizards were very very still, and then ZAP! No more cricket. Lightning speed.
