We started at one of the art museums for a free performance by a jazz band. They played different styles of jazz, demonstrated that jazz music is simply marching band music with a syncopated rhythm, and talked about improvisation. I don't know how much our kids got out of it, but it was a very informative show. The girls liked dancing to the music.
Over to the other art museum for playing dressup in the children's room, presenting puppet shows to Aunt T complete with animal growls, making tiny little stained glass windows for an art project, and practicing weaving.
Sunny and Poppy - fast friends! They'd only met one other time before this trip.
Then it was outside for lunch and visiting all the Dr. Seuss statues. I did not manage to get any cousin pictures because they would not stop running and running and running. A couple of the girls would sit down here and there, but certainly not all of them at the same time!
Primrose the blur. She would not stop running - I'm surprised this shot has any kind of focus to it.
We wrapped things up at the science museum, visiting a temporary exhibit hosted by Curious George. We got lucky with our timing and got into the last "class" of the day in the experiment room - they talked about water and dribbled colored water onto plastic sheeting with droppers. They played with light boards and shadows for forever. They pretended to be construction workers. They played for quite awhile until everyone was hungry and it was time to go home.
