fall session at co-op

Another 10 weeks of good times at our co-op! Our main focus this time was art classes. Sunny and Posy also each took a math games class (different levels), and Sunny - entirely on her own - also joined in with PE games. I've registered her for this class before but she would never play the games. She just sat off to the side talking with a couple of the other girls. This session, I didn't register her but on the first day, I was checking around for her, and there she was. Outside with the games, and full-on running across the field. Ooookay. She had a good time with it and fortunately, it's a regular class provided every session.

Music for the littles - Azalea was singing to her toy, totally copying her teacher.

Sunny loves working with polymer clay.

 Posy worked on painting.

Birdie's LAST preschool art class! They do a variety of activities.

Field hockey with PVC/pool noodle sticks.

And really ... why we're there - to be with friends. Learning, even homeschool non-mainstream style, is fun when you're with friends.

On the side, but affiliated with co-op, I'm helping put together a National Geography Bee competition for homeschoolers in our part of the state. Sunny is old enough to compete now, so we're going with it. We don't meet on Mondays during co-op because of some other scheduling conflicts - we get the group together at the library on Thursday afternoons, and the parents take turns presenting various geography lessons and activities. So far so good!

This session was a little skimpy on classes for Sunny and Posy - most of the parents who volunteer to teach don't have kids in those age brackets. I've been working with the preschool group since we joined the co-op, but apparently I need to step it up with my older kids. So I've turned over my preschool responsibilities to a couple of other moms. Next session, I'll be teaching 2 classes - one for the 6-8 group and one for the 9-11 group. Wish me luck!
