The local public schools have today off for an Easter break and I had the neighbor kids knocking on our door all morning. I told the first kid that no one could play until we finished their math work (fortunately, we'd already done piano practice) and the girls would come get him when they were done. Ten minutes later, he was back with a big bottle of bubbles. We could count bubbles for math!
Since it's a one-day thing, I rolled my eyes and let them go. Whatever. I'm irritated but I'm not going to make a big deal of it. My concern is next month when these neighbor kids get out of school for the summer, but we're going year-round. I'll probably have to take a walk to talk to the other parents - my kids can NOT play between the hours of X and Y because we are homeschooling. Please do not let your kids come over and knock on our door. That, or plan things for all of them combined. I'll have to think about that one.
