first academic milestone

Today, Posy finished the entire Pre-K section on the IXL math website! This is the first time any of the girls have completely finished any section or level or book of anything academic. Yay! We polish off books all the time - that's a non-event around here. But to finish an entire level of math is a pretty big deal. Posy is quite excited to start on kindergarten level math, and actually moved right on into that section of the website and has already done two activities in it.

Dad had to work late this evening so tomorrow, we're going to have a family dinner party to celebrate with hot dogs and french fries and watermelon and chocolate pudding. He also just brought home fruit pops for a treat, which is the girls are already eating.

Sunny is mad that she is not getting a party or reward. She can have a party when she finishes her own math section, which is kindergarten right now. Parties are earned. She's capable of doing most things in the kindergarten section, or would catch on fairly quickly if it's not something she's already been introduced to. She just won't sit down and do it.

(And as a sidenote, as soon as we say - and post on the blog - that we're not going to do "school" anymore because it's more fun to just "explore" ... Sunny says that she wants to "have school." SERIOUSLY?!?!? Can I just slam my head into a wall yet? There is no working with this child.)
