another public school year begins

... which we are not participating in. I've let all the daily school requirements go today so I can get some housework done - it's completely gotten away from me lately.

Sunny has spent the day alternating between building block castles for her miniature Disney princesses and playing with ocean-themed foam stickers. She had pickles for lunch. (We don't have "a pickle" around here. We have "a jar of pickles" for our snack. Grandpa would be proud.) We might go swimming this evening when Dad gets home, or to the library. Don't know. We'll see. Depends on what we feel like doing in a couple of hours. She spent a good portion of Saturday under the bed reading, and looking up random questions on a new science website her dad found for her - KidsHealth.

Posy still would not be starting kindergarten this year even though she's older than I was when I started kindergarten, and she can read. I'll start her "formal" education records in January when I shift Sunny up to year 2.

Life continues on as usual. No change to our routine at all. In some ways, that really bugs me. There's NEVER any CHANGE. Life at home can be mind-numbing in its predictability. In other ways, it's nice. I don't have to completely turn my world upside down every time the local public schools have a day off, or start a new schedule, or whatever.
