When we pulled into town on Thursday, May 23, the first three places we went were in this order: 1. our hotel. 2. a Thai restaurant for dinner. 3. the library. No kidding.
There's a great kid section with a lot of toys - a dollhouse, a train table, big Legos and Little People, a table with tons of crayons and blank paper ... the thing I like best about it is that it's completely separate from the rest of the library so it's not a big deal for the girls to be a little noisy. Of course I don't let them run around and yell - they need to learn and practice proper library etiquette. But it's not a big deal when they forget.
I saw this quote online recently:
"Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve."
A library card since you were 12? Twelve? Pff! So late! Within a week of moving into our house and getting some kind of something with our name and new address on it, we had library cards. I have one. Sunny has her own. She's 7. Posy has her own. She's 5. Birdie wants her own - she's barely 3. Maybe I'll let her get one, or maybe I'll make her wait until she can write her own name on the request card.
Twelve. HA!
