September 12-16, 2011
I'm slooooowing down to the point that I think this is going to be our last week until after the new baby is here.
It was really random all week. We had lots of reading time together - Posy is taking off on her reading skills. (And she's still THREE!!! AAHHHH!!!) Sunny is reading a couple of the Little House books and I introduced her to Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. She seems to read chapter books by skipping around in them and treating each chapter as an independent short story in a larger book. Fortunately, with these books, she can do that without totally losing the line of the main story. Both girls had their dance classes and they're having a great time with the music class. Library day. We played with shapes for a math activity. We made a timeline for our family for history. We even had a 30-minute piano lesson for Sunny one day.
Today, we went to the planetarium in Jackson - an alternate activity instead of going to the children's museum yet again, and with a science angle. BIG disappointment. There's nothing there except the theater itself and a few posters on the wall. The movie we watched - called Fly Me to the Moon - was a cartoon with awful art and extremely choppy animation. It was the story of 3 flies (yes, the little bugs) stowing away on Apollo 11 and going to the moon with Allred, Armstrong, and Collins. Right. It counts as a field trip? Maybe? Since it was about the astronauts who went to the moon, and part of the musical score incorporated The Blue Danube waltz.
