high school play

Okay, so that was a complete disaster.

The local high school's winter musical production was The Music Man and I thought the girls would really like it. So I bought tickets for our family field trip outing for the month.

Ha ha ha. I missed half the play because I spent it in the hall with my FIVE-year-old. She was the worst behaved of them all. Even Birdie - who's 22 months old - sat still better than Sunny did. It was awful.

The play was all right, I think. We couldn't hear a darn thing, which didn't help the girls pay attention at all to it. The lead actors had clip mikes on but they were sketchy, and the other actors didn't seem to be miked at all. It was a pretty large auditorium and we were about halfway back, so we completely missed the entire opening section.

About a week later, I found the movie with Robert Preston and Shirley Jones at the library, and brought it home. Aaahhhhhh. THAT is The Music Man. And we enjoyed it.

When your new post showed up in my blogger notification section it said, "high school play
Okay, so that was a complete disaster."

And my mind, the theatre teacher me, heaved a huge sigh feeling bad for those students. But then I read your post and just had to ask, "why do a musical if you don't have working mic's and why in the world can't teachers teach PROJECTION?"

And beyond that, so so sorry about the girls. But alas, theatre is not for all kids. Lillian loves it and Coralie only likes it in really small doses.
