incentive report

We brought rewards or bribery or whatever you want to call it into our education structure a couple of weeks ago (here). And the result is ...

It took Sunny 12 "work" days to get through the equivalent of 10 days of schoolwork. Considering how things had been going for a few weeks prior to that, this is a vast improvement. She finished her last bit of work today in about 30 minutes - no complaining, no griping, she just did it. And she got her book! Hooray!

Then she read the whole thing within the next 2 hours.

Sunny and her dad had a conversation last week about her bad attitude relating to doing math. She's in first grade this year, but still working on kindergarten math. Her dad said that when she finishes the kindergarten section of math in our online program and the 1st grade section, she can get a new bike. I tracked it out and if she does 3 sections every day, she'll finish the kindergarten section before we end our year at Thanksgiving. One section is about 25 questions and it takes her 3-5 minutes to do it.

Posy is also supposed to get a new bike when she finishes the kindergarten section, since she's not even "in" school yet. (I'm just wondering where we're going to put the bikes. We have no garage or outdoor storage.)
