ice skating

There was a homeschool ice skating day at a rink in Hartford this afternoon and kind of on a whim, we decided to check it out. Sunny has been skating a couple of times with a friend from church, but none of the others had tried it. It was at noon, so AC took a long lunch from work and joined us at the rink. I don't skate - it hurts my ankles. This is AC's department.

Going out into the middle of the rink for the first time - yay!

Sunny took off right away - this was her 3rd or 4th time on ice skates. She still wants the security of the walker and hasn't really let go of it to skate on her own yet. But she moves pretty quick.

Posy and Birdie were really hesitant but gradually got more confident and said they had fun.

Magnolia wanted to try skating, but got as far as one foot on the ice ... and it slid ... so this is what she spent the rest of the time doing:

So we put the skates on Azalea. She at least got all the way onto the ice but wanted nothing to do with it. AC held her there long enough to snag a picture, and she was done.
