I'll be honest. When I picture homeschooling over the next 10-15 years, I imagine all the traveling we can do. Wherever we want, whenever we want. I love traveling and seeing new things.
Any time AC has a business trip or training seminar or whatever, we can go along to check out the city/region. We can take family vacations at any time of year, particularly to avoid the most crowded times of various locations and take advantage of better weather and less-expensive off-season pricing. We can take a random 3-day weekend to go the beach or camping. Anything goes!
My big dream is to spend 2 or 3 months - preferably in the spring or fall - and travel around the entire US. We recently found Our 50 States by Lynne Cheney at the library. The book is a great summary of famous people, events, and locations from/in each of the 50 states. The artwork is a bit overwhelming to the eye - very busy and crowded, but very cute drawings.
We would LOVE to actually take that imagined trip! It would be really cool to do it in an RV but it's probably more feasible to just drive a van and haul camping gear in a trailer. (Also a good reason to not do this kind of trip during the summer - who wants to camp in the humidity? Bleh.) My "executive decision" is to wait until our youngest child is about 5 or 6 years old to do that trip - it's a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and I want everyone old enough to remember it! But that doesn't stop me from planning a potential route and list of must-see sites now, even though said youngest child hasn't even been decided yet.
And when Sunny and Posy get ready to fly the coop ... a backpacking trip around Europe. Nothing more than what each person can carry in a large backpack, train tickets, hostels, and we're on our way to see everything. That would be So. Amazing.

I love this idea! Who knows if I would survive a trip like this, but it something that I dream about constantly!
