National Geography Bee

This morning, Sunny competed in our homeschool group's competition for the National Geography Bee presented by National Geographic. She was the youngest in the group - the only 9 year old - and held her own really well! At the end of the first round, she was tied with the two 13-year-olds in the lead. She slid from there, but in the knock-out round to get to the final two, she stayed in until it cut to the final two competitors.

At one point, she was totally zoned out and missed that she'd been asked a question. The timekeeper was starting to tick off a countdown on her fingers, and Sunny abruptly realized everyone was looking at her. "What?" The moderator repeated the question (which stopped the countdown), which she immediately answered. Ooohhhh, my little space cadet.

Yay Sunny! We're planning to continue studying geography and see how well she does next year!
